⚠️ Equine Activity Liability Act [EALA] Warning
Under Colorado Law, an equine professional is not liable for an injury to or the death of a participant in equine activities resulting from the inherent risks of equine activities, pursuant to section 13-21-119, Colorado Revised Statutes.
Assumption of Risk
Horseback riding is a recreational activity that carries inherent risks. Horses are large, powerful animals with individual temperaments. Regardless of training, any horse may react unpredictably to sounds, movements, unfamiliar objects, people, or other animals. By participating in any equine activity offered by Rocky Mountain Stables, you acknowledge and accept the inherent risks involved, including but not limited to:
- The propensity of an equine to behave in ways that may result in injury, harm, or death to persons on or around them
- The unpredictability of an equine's reaction to sounds, sudden movement, and unfamiliar objects, persons, or other animals
- Hazards such as surface and subsurface conditions, including uneven terrain, mud, rocks, and water crossings
- Collisions with other equines, objects, or people
- The potential of a participant to act in a negligent manner that may contribute to injury
- The potential for changes in weather, including lightning, wind, rain, and temperature
Waiver & Release
All participants are required to sign a liability waiver and release form in person prior to riding. Parents or legal guardians must sign on behalf of all minors. No participant will be permitted to ride without a completed waiver on file.
