Ticketing
Charge for a seat, in as many tiers as the event needs.
Turning ticketing on
Switch Enable Ticketing on in the event editor. You can then add ticket types.
Ticket types
Each type carries a name, a price, and a quantity. The event tracks how many of each have sold.
Use several types when the same event is worth different amounts to different people:
- Early bird and general admission
- Member and non-member
- Single and table of eight
- Attend and attend-plus-workshop
Quantity is your inventory
Set the quantity to the number of that tier you are willing to sell. When it sells out, that tier closes and the others stay open. Twenty early-bird tickets means twenty, not twenty-ish.
Payment
Ticket payments run through your own Stripe account, the same as everything else in Jot. Set that up in Connecting Stripe under Selling on Jot if you have not already.
Free and paid together
You can run RSVPs and ticketing on the same event. A free RSVP tier alongside a paid one works well when you want a headcount from people who are not paying — volunteers, press, staff.
Before you announce
- Open the live event page on a phone.
- Buy a ticket with a Stripe test card.
- Check it appears in the guest list with the right tier and amount.
- Check the sold count went up and the remaining count went down.
- Switch back to live Stripe keys.
Do this before you post the link anywhere. A checkout that fails in the first hour of an announcement costs you the whole announcement.
