Payment Methods
Which ways a buyer is allowed to pay, and where you change that.
Jot asks Stripe to show whatever payment methods your Stripe account has enabled. That means the list is controlled in your Stripe dashboard, not in Jot — if a method is missing at checkout, that is where to look.
Turning methods on
- In Stripe, open Settings → Payments → Payment methods.
- Switch on the ones you want.
- Some — Klarna, Afterpay, Affirm and similar — need approval first and can take a day or two.
Changes take effect on the next checkout. Nothing needs republishing in Jot.
What usually gets used
- Cards — on by default. Leave it on.
- Apple Pay and Google Pay — worth enabling. On a phone they turn a card entry form into a thumbprint, and that is a real difference in completed sales.
- Link — Stripe’s saved-details option, for returning buyers.
- Buy now, pay later — for higher-priced items, if approved.
Apple Pay needs your domain verified in Stripe before it will appear. Stripe walks you through it under Settings → Payments → Apple Pay.
Currency
Prices are charged in the currency your Stripe account is set to. Jot displays prices in US dollars, so if your Stripe account settles in another currency, check that the displayed figure matches what you intend to charge.
When a method does not show up
- It is not enabled in Stripe, or is still awaiting approval.
- It is not supported for the buyer’s country or the amount.
- You are on test keys and the method is live-only.
- The domain is not verified — this specifically affects Apple Pay.
Fees
Stripe’s processing fee comes out of each payment before it reaches your bank. The current rates are on Stripe’s pricing page. Jot does not add a percentage on top of your sales.
