Invoicing & Quotes
Send the invoice and get paid from the same link.
Most invoices are a PDF attached to an email, and then a wait. A Jot invoice is a page the customer opens and pays on. Same document, one fewer step between the work and the money.
Invoices and quotes
Both are built the same way and the difference is what they are for.
- An invoice asks to be paid. It carries a due date and a pay button.
- A quote asks to be accepted. It prices the work before it starts.
Numbering keeps them apart — invoices are numbered INV-00001, quotes QUO-00001.
The lifecycle
- Draft — yours only, editable, not visible to anyone.
- Sent — live at its own link and payable.
- Paid — settled. The buyer can still open it briefly to save a receipt.
- Overdue, Cancelled, or for quotes Accepted, Rejected, Expired.
What you need
To send one, nothing but the details. To be paid through it, a connected Stripe account — see Connecting Stripe under Selling on Jot.
Invoice pages are deliberately kept out of search engines. They carry your customer’s name, email and what they bought, and none of that belongs in a search result.
