Selling on Jot
Take the order without sending anyone to an app store, a login screen, or an eleven-field checkout.
A Space can sell in two different shapes, and picking the right one first saves you rebuilding later.
Two ways to sell
Inline products
You place a product directly into a section on the page — a name, a price, an image, a button. Nothing is tracked in a catalog. This is the right choice for a single item, a service, a deposit, a tip jar, or a menu where you are not counting units.
Catalog products
You create the product once under Assets → Shop, and then point sections at it. The product carries stock, a SKU, sale pricing, categories and images. Stock goes down when someone buys. This is the right choice when you can run out of something.
If you are unsure, start inline. Moving a single item into the catalog later is a five-minute job; unwinding a catalog you did not need is not.
What you need before you can take money
- A Stripe account. Free to create, and you keep your own merchant account — Jot never holds your money.
- Your Stripe API keys saved in Jot, under Account → Stripe Keys.
- At least one payment method enabled in your Stripe dashboard.
- A checkout section on the page so the buyer has something to press.
The next five pages walk through each of those in order.
What the buyer experiences
They scan a code or open a link, see the item, press the button, and pay. There is no account to create and nothing to download. That is the whole point — every extra step between wanting the thing and paying for it is where people leave.
