Forms

Ask the question, get the answer, without a clipboard or a phone call.

A form in Jot is a set of steps, each holding fields. It lives at its own link, can be embedded in a Space, or attached to a booking flow so the questions get asked as part of booking.

What people use them for

  • Quote requests and job enquiries
  • Intake — allergies, measurements, vehicle details, what the dog is called
  • Applications and sign-ups
  • Feedback and reviews
  • Waivers and consent

Steps, not one long page

Forms are built in steps. A form with twelve fields on one screen reads as work; the same twelve split across three steps reads as progress. Where a form is long, split it — the completion rate is the entire point.

Friction is the thing to watch

Every field is a place someone can stop. Before you add one, ask what you would do differently with the answer. If the answer is nothing, do not ask.

The person filling in your form downloads nothing and creates no account. Keep it that way — the moment a form asks someone to register, most of them leave.
